The best thing about movies is that there’s always new content to absorb and movies to anticipate. As the final month of summer dwindles down, it’s time to look towards the fall for our next newest releases. While I’m sure you’re waiting for November and December when the big blockbusters will hit the theatres such as Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022), or Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2022) (because so am I!), you might be wondering what are some interesting films to enjoy while we wait. Here are three films that I’m excited to watch in September-October:

Blonde

Release date: September 28, 2022

With recent big blockbuster movies under her belt such as Knives Out (2019), No Time to Die (2021), and The Gray Man (2022), Ana De Armas is aiming for a more emotional and dramatic performance in her upcoming film, Blonde (2022). Starring as the beloved Marilyn Monroe, I was pleasantly surprised by what the trailer shows of Armas’ performance – she really sounds and looks the part. Blonde (2022) is going to be a fictional take on Monroe’s life and story, and from what I’ve seen so far, it’s going to be a powerful and heartbreaking ride. Despite Monroe being a household name, it’s sad how I (and I’m sure most people) barely know anything about her except that she was a sex icon; I can’t wait to see how the film will explore a different side of her than we’re used to. All in all, I’m very excited to see how this film will hold up and I really hope that Armas will be able to portray Monroe in a raw and authentic way. You can for sure find me watching this movie on September 28th right when it comes out on Netflix.

*Update: I’ve seen this movie, check out my review here!

Don’t Worry Darling

Release date: September 23, 2022

Out of all the movies on this list, I am probably the most excited about this one! Don’t Worry Darling (2022) is an upcoming psychological thriller that boasts a star-studded cast with talent such as Harry Styles, Florence Pugh, Olivia Wilde, Chris Pine, and Gemma Chan. The trailers look stunning with amazing visuals and aesthetics, and I love that it manages to give nothing away while still giving the viewer just enough to understand the premise of the film. There’s definitely a creepy, suspenseful vibe that will make this the perfect segue into the spooky month of October. I can see this movie being similar to Get Out (2017) where the horrors surrounding the plot slowly reveal themselves as the film progresses. With so much mystery and secrecy around the plot, we can only speculate for now.

My Policeman

Release date: October 21, 2022

Wow, Harry Styles has really been busy between releasing new music and filming all these movies (he’s made it on this list twice!). Now I only just recently discovered My Policeman (2022) which is releasing later this year in October, but it caught my interest. My guess is you haven’t heard of this one either so let me give you a quick rundown. The film is set in the 1950s with Styles starring as a gay policeman who marries a school teacher (played by Emma Corrin!) while simultaneously involved in a relationship with another man. While not much has been given away by the trailer, enough has been given that I’m intrigued. I feel like this has the potential to be either really good or a solid okay. With October just around the corner, I suppose I’ll find out soon and let you all know.

What are you guys excited to see the next coming months? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below, cheers! 😀
